FågelstreckDifficult conversations

This training course makes you better able to conduct difficult conversations both in a dialogue with one other person and in a group situation. You will attain increased awareness of your own way of communicating, better understanding of what happens to people in times of change and crisis and when dealing with everyday problems.

Target group

Line managers, project managers and others who wish to improve their communication skills. The training can be run on a 1-1 basis or in a group, where we integrate the content with the specific everyday situation of the group members.

A selection of content

  • Difficult conversations and their possibilities.
  • Cornerstones in difficult conversations.
  • The inner and outer dialogue – what is happening when I communicate with others? What is happening for them?
  • Ways of being actively present.
  • The effects of change and crisis, ways to help people to move forward and ways to handle difficult conversations.
  • Attitudes and communication styles.
  • Why are meetings unsuccessful? Principles of good conversations in groups.

Scope

The course is run over two days at a course centre. This can be complemented by practical work with the particular group and / or individual coaching depending on client needs.

Work Methods and Procedure

Our work is experience based. We combine exercises and practical training with short presentations of different explanatory models. Our focus is on you and your active contribution to the good conversation and how you can help your partner or group to move forward in difficult situations. How together you are able to create openings and build roads to change and success. In our exercises we are happy to use examples of difficult conversations that you have brought along or problem situations in your groups. We test problem solving through conversation and you will have the opportunity to see how differently people experience one and the same conversation.
